TIPS OF THE DAY
Some handy gardening tips!
Dig an ugly hole when planting a tree or shrub.
A hole with "glazed" sides from a shovel will
restrict root penetration into the surrounding soil.
Planting from plastic containers? Carefully remove
the plant and tear the outside roots if they have
grown solidly against the container.
Bare soil should not be visible around a new planting.
Always cover with a layer of mulch, any coarse-textured,
loose organic material.

Questions to ask befor hiring a contractor....Part 1
1. How long have you been in business?
Look for an established company that has been doing business
in the area for several years.
2. Are you licensed and registered with the state?
Ask what the requirements were to obtain a license from the
state - what level of knowledge and expertise that the
contractor had to have in order to obtain the license.
3. Are you insured?
Find out what would happen if a mishap occurs during construction.
What are you responsible for, and what would be the contractor's
responsibility.
4. How many projects like mine have you done in the past year?
This will give you a good idea of the experience level of the
contractor. Ask for a list, or a website (like www.AnthCo.com)
where you can look at photos of other similar projects.
5. Will my project require a permit?
A good contractor will know what the permit requirements are in
your area, and will be the one to obtain them before construction
begins.
